Rep. Clemmons applauds extension of mass transit on Charlotte
Nashville, Tennessee – Today, Mayor Megan Barry announced plans to extend the light rail line down Charlotte Pike to White Bridge Road as a part of the Let’s Move Nashville transit plan. State Representative John Ray Clemmons issues the following statement in response:
Today, I am thankful that the decision has been made to extend mass transit along the Charlotte Avenue corridor to White Bridge Road. I have worked my entire tenure in the state legislature to address the real transportation issues facing West Nashville and the greater Nashville region. Earlier this year, we succeeded in increasing transportation funding and creating local options for Metro to generate additional funds. Over the past few weeks, I have been pleased to work with local transit officials and council members Mary Carolyn Roberts and Kathleen Murphy to achieve today’s announcement. Our joint efforts will benefit our neighbors and small businesses. There is more work to be done, and I look forward to continuing our record of success.
