About the TN General Assembly

The Tennessee General Assembly meets in Nashville each year beginning at noon on the second Tuesday of January. Each session of the General Assembly meets for a two-year period. Generally, legislative sessions last from mid-January through late April or May of each year. The General Assembly consists of 99 Representatives and 33 Senators. Representatives are elected to two year terms, and Senators are elected to four year terms.
